Victoria Chick’s New Mexico art studio is located on a juniper covered hillside overlooking the Rio de Arenas basin and the mountains of the Gila National Forest. Mule deer and elk are frequent visitors and hummingbirds enjoy abundant summer wildflowers. Cow Trail Art Studio hours are: NOON to 3 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. A portion of the studio wall space will be devoted to exhibiting woodcuts, etchings, linocuts, lithographs, and drawings from my collection of 19th and 20th century art. The exhibit will be changed every two months. I'm always happy to talk about art and and artists. Visitors may also catch me involved in a work of my own in progress. The address is 119 Cow Trail, Arenas Valley, New Mexico. The driveway gate will be open during the above days and hours. It is locked at other times. Watch for possible deer, elk, and free range horses on Cow Trail (a dirt road). This is New Mexico where every day is an adventure!

NEW
MEXICO CONNECTION -
Since the last half of the 19th century, East and West Coast artists as well as European artists have been attracted to New Mexico, joining Native Americans already here to appreciate the unique New Mexico landscape and light. A new exhibit at Cow Trail Art Studio focuses on the original etchings, drawings, and lithographs of nine of the artists. Some were permanent New Mexico residents; others came just for the summer. Only one early artist was born here and returned after study in Pennsylvania. The artists include Will Schuster, Charles Dahlgreen, Gustave Baumann, Birger Sandzen, Peter Hurd, Earle Loran, Eric Gibberd, Garo Antresian, and Fritz Scholder. Some of the prints were created around the time New Mexico gained statehood status, some in the mid 20th century, and two of the prints are considered to be in a contemporary style. They are a portion of a collection I enjoy sharing with visitors during regular studio hours.
Small groups are welcome and free print lectures can be arranged. JURIED SHOW: “Rio Grande Valley Cat”, one of the new series of paintings inspired by 1940’s crate labels, has been juried in to The Last Picture Show , an exhibition to be held January 13 through February 23 at the Preston Contemporary Art Center in Las Cruces, NM. www.prestoncontemporaryart.com My work can also be seen at JW Art Gallery, 99 Cortez in Hurley, New Mexico. They are open Wednesday through Friday from 9 -5 as well as Saturday and Sunday from 10 until 6.
